Social conservatism is rooted in fear of the uncertain. everybody loves freedom when it applies to themselves, but when you free others, the same people get very, very scared.

My freshman year of high school i was leaving the Harry Potter premiere, so there groups of teenagers everywhere. Some groups were pretty shady looking too. Anyways, I’m getting in my 22 year old sisters car and two cops drive up demanding my name and all this stuff about me. The wanted to put ME this innocent little scrawny kid on probation because city curfew had begun a few hours earlier. I really don’t understand why they didn’t go after the gang of teenagers. Whatever. Anyways, since I was with my sister and she was older than 21 I technically wasn’t braking curfew, so they demanded her license as proof of age. And she didn’t have it. Luckily after a few minutes of arguing they believed her and let me off with a “warning.” I was a 13 year old underweight boy seeing a freaking Harry Potter movie with his adult sister, yeah, somehow I was a threat to the security of my city. Whatever, they don’t have their priorities straight.
